At the beginning of the game, the player begins in a camp in the Alps, traveling in Hannibal’s army as they cross the Alps. As one of the most iconic parts of the Second Punic War, the scene takes place at the level of Hannibal’s troops, as they prepare for the monumental undertaking.
The second room is in the middle of the crossing, with both soldiers and Hannibal’s infamous war-elephants freezing to death in the unfamiliar mountain climate.
The third room takes place during an ambush, during which the tribes native to the local area attack Hannibal’s troops, who they see as tresspassers. The dead soldier is of one of the Roman Consuls, Lucius Aemilius Paullus, who died at the Battle of Cannae.
The fourth room switches sides, to when the tide of the war has turned in favor of Rome due to the ascension of the Roman General Scipio Africanus, now following the Roman army as they prepare for the climactic Battle of Zama. The Roman ally, the Numidian prince Massinissa also makes an appearance.
The Final room takes place after Rome won the final victory at Zama, with players able to spot the canals through which the Romans funneled the Carthaginian war-elephants, spearing them to death. Hannibal, the infamous General of Carhtage, finally makes his in-person appearance.
